August 3rd 2018-The water temps are warm on the Upper North Platte River around the Saratoga area. This makes for a really early start with ok fishing and its over by noon. I would suggest coming to the Grey Reef and fishing hoppers with us on the lower North Platte near Casper WY.

Nov 15th 2017-Here is your Saratoga Fishing Report for the North Platte River. The fishing has been good on all the lower stretches below Saratoga. Some stretches of river are obviously low and you will drag a boat. With unseasonably warm temps there has still been dry fly action on different pieces. Of course the nymphing has been good and the streamer fishing has been really good especially on cloudy days.

Oct 2nd 2016-Here is your Saratoga Fishing Report for the North Platte River-Dry fly fishing continues, sporadic streamer activity and of course the nymphing is good. But the low water flows make it hard to float. If your looking for a guided float trip come float the Grey Reef or the Bighorn in Wy with us. They are worth your time and money this time of year!

August 22nd 2016- It’s been fishing from about 5am until about 11am then it’s over. Look towards to the Grey Reef or the Miracle Mile a full day of fabulous fishing! It’s approximately 1.5-2 hr drive from Saratoga to the Grey Reef or the Miracle Mile. 307.267.5161

March 6th 2016 North Platte Saratoga Fishing Report- The river is starting to open up with these warm temps and the fishing is slightly getting better.  Your best option is to hit the Grey Reef were the fishing is silly! Thermopolis Wyoming on the Bighorn is also fishing very well! If you have any questions feel free to call or text us at 307.267.5161.

October Upper North Platte Saratoga Fishing Report

October 31st 2015 Upper North Platte Saratoga Fishing Report– The Upper North Platte in Saratoga is fishing well. Yes the water is low but the Fall is a fantastic time to fish the Saratoga stretch of the North Platte when browns get really aggressive and willing to eat streamers, rain snow or shine. The Bwo hatch has also been solid in the mornings with lots of fish up from Treasure Island down through town.September North Platte Saratoga Fishing Reports

October 29th North Platte Saratoga Fishing Report– The water is low but the fishing is still good.  Starting to see more and more Browns to the net.  The Bwo hatch keeps fish looking up and eating on the surface.

September North Platte Saratoga Fishing Reports:

September 24th North Platte Saratoga Fishing Report:  Don’t be afraid of seeing the sunrise, the earlier the better.  The fishing has started to last into the afternoon with temperatures dropping and frequent afternoon rains.  The morning is still filled full of rising pods of fish.  While tricos are everywhere on the water more productive patterns are pmd’s and caddis.  Attractor patterns will do the trick but a better bet is authentic bugs stay away from para-post indicators if you can see your bugs without them.  As the temp comes up the fish are moving into the heads of the runs.  Fish from the riffle to about mid run.  The bottom end tends to be less productive.  Nymph the runs deep.  Use a big bug up top-turds (Pat’s crazy legs or and stone pattern) or wiggle the San Juan worm (red, orange or purple).  Soft hackle patterns are a great choice for a bottom fly or if the water color is clear use small bugs, 20 or so, zebra midges, or foam back emergers.

The fly fishing in Saratoga has been off the charts with fish taking a streamer almost every cast and many fish being drug to the net on dry flys.  Right now makes guides jealous if you don’t have time to personally fish because streamers and drys are what a guide dreams of. Trico dry flies working well in am and blue wing olives in the afternoon.  Steamers are orange blossom with a black trailer. If you are wondering whether you should come, wonder no longer!

We are putting on the river at 6am and fishing till noon or 1 pm when the fishing shuts down.  There are definitely some fish to be had on dry flys and nymphing the deeper runs.

Hot Flies: Pat’s crazy rubber legs, San Juan (best in murky water after a rainfall), size 20 zebra midges, last but not least the PAL.

August North Platte Saratoga Fishing Reports

August 28th – Fishing HOT, HOT, HOT!
Saratoga Fishing Report: The fly fishing in Saratoga has been off the charts.  With fish taking a streamer almost every cast and many fish being drug to the net on dry flys.  Right now makes guides jealous if you don’t have time to personally fish because streamers and drys are what a guide dreams of. Trico dry flies working well in am and blue wing olives in the afternoon.  Steamers are orange blossom with a black trailer.

March North Platte Saratoga Fishing Report

March 21st- Sunny with a Fish Filled Forecast!
Saratoga Fishing Report:  The amount of fish boated is steadily increasing with two guides turning in 40.  Nymphing is still the best option with natural pine squirrel leaches, eggs with a midge off the end.  Lots of midges on the water some fish feeding on the surface on days with less wind this should increase.  The woolly bugger fishing is picking up and the thin mint is the go to pattern.  Look for days with sun on the water and limited wind for good fishing.

March 26th – Things are heating up in Saratoga
Saratoga Fishing Report: Fishing on the Upper North Platte River near Saratoga is heating up.  Fishing from Treasure Island to the Sangers access points are fishing the best.  There’s no need to rise too early. Wait a bit for the sun to warm up the water.  Some of the “hot runs” where the ones surrounding the warm springs.   As the water temps rise expect the fishing to get even better.  The in town fishermen are hooking big spring fish once again.  27.5 inches is the biggest I know of yet.  Nymphing is the most productive fishing especially before max temperatures.  Look for most of the hook ups to come in slower water at the tail out of the runs.  Top producing flies are Pat’s rubber legs, big hare’s ears and eggs are all working well.  BWO’s have started and you may want to try one on the end of a nymph rig.  Streamer fishing is good too, just make sure to keep your strip speed on the slow side and look to find more fish in the big pools than near the banks.  Happy hooking!!

November North Platte Saratoga Fishing Report

November 26th- Breaking the Ice!
Saratoga Fishing Report: Johnny Blumenthal and I had the pleasure of taking the Armstrong family fishing again today.  Yesterday we fished the Grey Reef and it was fishing ridiculously good.  Today we fished from the in town access in Saratoga to Foot access.  The fishing was, well it was a lot of casting.  Fishing was non existent with really cold water temps.  Cliff brought 1 very nice Brown to the boat and that was the only fish landed for the day.  The day started with lots of floating ice.  By 12 the floating ice had melted and runs were clear for the most part.  We did have to get out and drag the boats across the ice in 3 different spots.  This made for an adventure and an unforgettable day.

October North Platte Saratoga Fishing Report

October 27th- All Stretches Fishing Great!
Saratoga Fishing Report: The North Platte River starting in Saratoga all the way to Government Bridge near Casper Wyoming is fishing great.  These stretches include Saratoga, Miracle Mile, Fremont Canyon, and the Grey Reef to Government bridge with clarity half to 3/4 of the way to Sechrist access area.

Saratoga  fishing was excellent.  We did well nymphing and throwing streamers.  And in the afternoon we had some good BWO dry fly action.  We probably caught more Rainbows than Browns.

Hot Flies: Brown Pat’s Rubber Legs, San Juan, and BWO patterns

April North Platte Saratoga Fishing Report

April 8th- Money Back Guarantee!
Saratoga Fishing Report: If you have fished in Saratoga Wyoming on the North Platte River and have loved it, I challenge you to come to the Grey Reef on the lower North Platte River.  I have guided in Saratoga for a handful of seasons and it is beautiful and the fishing is good but the fishing on the Grey Reef is hard to beat.  The fishing is consistently awesome on this part of the river.  American Angler rated this section of the river #1 in the United States for number and size of fish.  If your disappointed we will give you 50% of your money back.
